About the role:

In partnership with a local church, Nottingham opened their first Hope into Action home for the homeless in 2011. Since then, the project has gone from strength to strength, opening its 10th home in 2021. Each of these houses is in partnership with a church. The team consists of another four gifted and committed people, who you will line manage.

You will not only maintain the current daily workload, but also seek out new opportunities, connecting with a range of agencies, organisations and churches.

Success in this role will see a happy team working to its potential, a growing number of homes, partner churches and tenants and an excellent reputation across the city.

About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone with natural leadership skills; a good people person and team player who is able to delegate and empower others, whilst retaining excellent accountability and care. Making difficult decisions and intervening in a range of scenarios will be part of your role, so adaptability and resilience are essential.

The ability to learn new skills is important, as is a willingness to contribute to Hope into Action UK’s strategy, future and management. As one of five line managed city team leads, this is a key role in the organisation. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who has a passion for the organisation's vision and is excited by the prospect of taking the Nottingham project into a new season. Initiative, a gift for networking and the ability to problem solve are all hugely beneficial qualities.

About us:

We believe everyone has the right to a home and churches have the power to meet the tragedy of homelessness in their community.

Starting 11 years ago, we have grown into a mature organisation working with over 70 churches running 90 homes for over 250 tenants.

We have won numerous awards, both secular and Christian, including the Guardian newspaper, Homeless link and the Centre for social Justice. 

We provide not just shelter and housing know how to people whom others have often given up on, but also the friendship of a church. Our first home had a real heart for men coming out of prison. Other homes are now available for a wide range of people experiencing homelessness: people in recovery from addiction, people sleeping rough, women and children fleeing domestic violence, people coming out of rehab, former sex workers, refugees, those suffering mental health issues and survivors of human trafficking. 

We are now partnering with churches across the country in over 25 locations. We encourage others to use our model by franchising the idea. Our vision is for every church to lovingly provide the homeless with a home. We believe that with our help, every church can house the homeless.
